.1 Formalization

چکیده
Intuitively, a collision resistant function (CRF) f is a function for which it is hard to find two inputs s.t. their images collide: If x 6= x′, then w.h.p. f(x) 6= f(x′). It is easy to see that any one-to-one function satisfies this requirement. However, we are interested in functions that are many-to-one, specifically, functions that map long inputs to short inputs, i.e., |f(x)| < |x|. One immediate use for CRFs would be to verify the integrity of a large database D. Instead of storing the entire data in a safe place, we could use a CRF function f : {0, 1}∗ → {0, 1} and save only d← f(D), which is relatively short. For any future suspicious version D′ of our database, we can now simply test d = f(D′) and see if the version was compromised.

Toward a Formalization of QA Problem Classes
How tough is a given question-answering problem? Answers to this question differ greatly among different researchers and groups. To begin rectifying this, we start by giving a quick, simple, propaedeutic formalization of a question-answering problem class. This formalization is just a starting point and should let us answer, at least roughly, this question: What is the relative toughness of two...

متن کاملRule-Based Formalization of Eligibility Criteria for Clinical Trials
In this paper, we propose a rule-based formalization of eligibility criteria for clinical trials. The rule-based formalization is implemented by using the logic programming language Prolog. Compared with existing formalizations such as pattern-based and scriptbased languages, the rule-based formalization has the advantages of being declarative, expressive, reusable and easy to maintain. Our rul...

Background: The first important issue underlying any organization is its structure. Among structural factors, complexity, formalization and centralization are more important than others and are considered as main factors. The main purpose of this research is determining structural factors(compelexity, formalization and centralization ) and the preferred structure with a mechanic and organic ap...
متن کاملThe NNN Formalization: Review and Development of Guideline Specification in the Care Domain
This technical report describes a formalization for nursing knowledge found in the NANDA, NIC and NOC (NNN for short) standards. Data about nursing diagnoses and treatments consists of the following three NNN knowledge sources that are widely accepted and used in the field of care [1], i.e., NANDA1 containing all basic information about the diagnoses, the Nursing Interventions Classification (N...
متن کاملFormal Proof—Getting Started
A List of 100 Theorems Today highly nontrivial mathematics is routinely being encoded in the computer, ensuring a reliability that is orders of a magnitude larger than if one had just used human minds. Such an encoding is called a formalization, and a program that checks such a formalization for correctness is called a proof assistant. Suppose you have proved a theorem and you want to make cert...
